I would like to learn basic to intermediary spoken Japanese -- both for use within a professional working context and within a casual, colloquial context. I work and live in downtown Toronto at a film organization.
My proficiency level in Japanese is close to zero, but having visited Japan and watched many Japanese films, find I am able to pick out some words, in a spoken context, and read some kanji as Chinese is my background.
I would like to improve on fluidity of speech and dialogue, mostly conversationa l.
I would like to dedicate 2 hours per week or every other week, ideally on the weekends.
Ideally, I am looking for a teacher who is a native Japanese speaker who is also fluent in English. I have a strong preference for someone who has interest or experience in the arts and cinema, and is able to teach me the language through a film/art-rela ted lens.

Hi, My name is Tony. I am a native Mandarin speaker from Taiwan and I have been in Canada for over 8 years. I am fluent in both English and Mandarin, and is interested in learning a third language in Japanese for both self-interest and career development purposes. I am a beginner with limited knowledge of this language such as katakana and hiragana, and would like to start up with fundamentals such as grammars and basic conversations .
