Dear Teacher:
I am an American citizen who is corresponding with a woman who is a resident of Nanning, China. I am interested in assisting her in finding an individual teacher in Nanning who is fluent in Chinese and English to teach her to speak and write conversationa l English.
She is 32 years old and a beginning English student. Her interest, and mine, is two-fold. We would like to be able to better communicate with each other on the internet, by telephone, in writing and when I wisit her which is currently planned during November 2004. We would expect the teaching to continue beyond my visit. We are also interested in the benefits which knowing English would offer her in career and job opportunities .
She does have a fair amount of time available for lessons and is, I believe, very motivated and excited to learn English. The schedule of lessons would be a matter for the two of you to set.
Our preference would be that her teacher be female since she would be more comfortable in that situation. Fluency in both languages is important. Before retaining anyone for this teaching, she would, of course, want to interview the applicant. I would also want to corresponde with any applicant being considered by internet and telephone, at my expense.
