I was born in Hong Kong but emmigrated to the UK at the age of one. My parents only spoke Hakar to me so I am fluent in that. I understand and speak abit of Cantonese but would like to get better. I emmigrated to New Zealand about a month ago and have made a decision to better my home language.

Hi there,
I would like to learn Cantonese as I am Chinese but born in New Zealand.
My father moved to New Zealand from Hong Kong when he was young, and my mother was born here, so I feel it is disrespectful if I don't learn Cantonese. I would also love to work in Hong Kong one day, hopefully when i graduate from university (in 2-3 years time).
I am at beginner level and can't say much at all haha. I would like to be able to hold down a conversation, and improve in all areas generally.
As I am a full time student at the moment, I am willing to dedicate a lot of time to this as I have quite flexible hours and am very hungry to learn.
Qua lities in a teacher that I would be looking for would be just a friendly, easy-to-talk- to person.
