Description |
Recently graduated from an Indian high school, based in Muscat, Oman. Will be moving to Cebu, Philippines (around April-May 2014) for a tentative year before transferring to Japan for further schooling. W hile I have a natural interest in languages, I have no functional ability in either Tagalog, Cebuano or Japanese. Wi lling to take up Tagalog and/or Cebuano purely for practical reasons during my transitional year in the Philippines. For practical, academic, career and personal reasons, I would prefer to focus mostly on learning Japanese. As much as possible, I would prefer to be learning any of these languages on a consistent (weekly) basis for the entirety of my first academic year in college at Cebu (June-April). Although I'd more likely drop Filipino after leaving the country, I'm looking to get at least a basic grasp of the Japanese language before I enroll at a school in Japan (April or Sept/Oct is uncertain). =For any language= Se eking a teacher who would be able to convey the essential basics of grammar, etc. in a reasonably short (if intensive) amount of time, but with an emphasis in immediate practical usage. In my case, Spoken language would be of a higher priority than written language, and lessons geared toward equipping the student with a functional conversationa l skills above all else would be appreciated. An instructor able to teach both verbal AND written comprehension , or only speaking, would be preferred over purely writing/readi ng teachers. Th e teacher should have a good grasp of English in addition to any of these languages, and used primarily as the mode of instruction.
=For Japanese= A focus on beginner's conversation, grammar, writing/readi ng kanji. I already have a loose grasp on hiragana and some of katakana, but starting from scratch will be fine with me.
=Timin gs= Preferabl y 1-2 times a week, for a couple hours or so after typical school hours. Negotiable~
