I am looking for a serious Spanish tutor for my Nessa, who can respond to this ad before June 20, 2016.
She is a very sweet, smart teenager from the US who will be in the Philippines until early August. Nessa desires a Spanish tutor who can hold intermediate conversations with her, since all her previous experience with the language has come from textbooks. She knows extensive vocabulary and grammar, but is looking for someone who can test her conversationa l abilities, including listening. Her tutor would have to have a very flexible, weekday schedule and a cell phone; transportatio n is not required, but it is recommended. He or she must have a clean, professional appearance and be honest; she can usually tell between a truth and a lie. A background check will be run and a preliminary interview via email will be conducted. Nessa will live between Pototan and Iloilo City for her six week stay in the Philippines; meetings would be held in parks, cafés, restaurants, or libraries, and the potential tutor's salary will be discussed before the first lesson.
A little bit about Nessa: she is an American of Spanish, French, and Filipino ancestry who attends a prestigious International Baccalaureate high school, where she is a sophmore. Nessa enjoys getting out of the house to go swimming, hiking, shopping, etc. and always carries her cell phone with her. She's a bit of a glutton, and can almost always be found with some exotic drink in her hand and candy in her purse. She has an electric personality and, although eccentric to some, she is observational and witty.

Proficiency: I consider myself to be at the beginner/inte rmediate level in learning Spanish. I have mastered conjugating in most tenses and my vocabulary is enough to get me around in a Spanish-speak ing place. On the downside though, I have yet to master irregular verbs and build a more comprehensive vocabulary for wider conversationa l topics. I can understand Spanish when I'm reading it (especially if I have a dictionary on hand for those words not commonly encountered). My problem is with spoken Spanish -- I can barely understand Spaniards when they speak because they talk too fast, and I'm hoping I can improve in this area.
Purp ose for learning: Basically, just for personal growth. I consider Spanish an interesting language. Considering also that it's one of the most commonly-spok en languages in the world, mastering Spanish would certainly prove to be a useful asset.
Are as of improvement: As mentioned earlier, I have trouble understanding spoken Spanish, especially when the speaker talks too fast. I have had Spaniards tell me that they understand my Spanish and that I speak the language well, but I think that was because we were just talking about casual topics like the weather or where I'm from. Basically, I would like a more comprehensive grasp of spoken Spanish and to be able to carry a conversation, especially when the topics become more complicated.
Time to dedicate to lessons: I could study as often as three times a week as long as it's afer office hours.
Qua lities looked for in a teacher: I suppose the first thing I would ask for from a teacher is patience. Having graduated from school almost ten years now, my mind isn't as sharp as it used to be when it comes to studying or learning new things.
