Hello
I am in love with languages. I am Afrikaans by origin, but I speak English fluently, I speak French fairly well and I can help myself quite wel in German and understand most of it.
In grade 10 (2011) I taught myself the Russian alphabet and I can now pronounce some words a bit, but of course not correctly as I've heard there are some differences in the way Russians pronunciate the words in comparison to my pronunciation .
I visited St Petersburg and Moscow last year in December and I got frustrated that I couldn't speak or understand anything. But I enjoyed pronunciating some of the words I read on magazines and billboards etc. My tour guide helped me a lot as well!
I've always liked Russian and I would like to speak it or at least have a working ability in understanding it.
I know Russian is a very difficult language so I am not expecting to be fluent afterwards but I'd like to have a good grasp to it.
I am studying at the university at the moment so I know class times might be a bit difficult, but this is really something I'd like to pursue!

I am a student of BA Language and Culture at Stellenbosch University and I have always wanted to study Russian but I have never been able to find anyone who could teach me. My goal is to be fluent in the 6 UN official languages (I already know English and am currently studying Spanish, French and Mandarin Chinese and I do have a small knowledge of Arabic) and so I would like to do Russian too. I taught myself the Cyrillic alphabet when I was 13 and haven't ever forgotten it, so reading is not an issue, but I have no idea what it is that I am reading..
It is one of my greatest desires to speak Russian and I would like to have lessons to start this process!
I hope someone may help me..
