I will be applying for a Fulbright grant to study and research Traditional Chinese medicine in mainland china or Taiwan for 2014. I need to learn Mandarin because some knowledge of Mandarin is preferred, and I need to provide a language instructor's evaluation with my application. My proficiency level is mid-level beginner and I can learn well. I need help with characters on the hsk exam and practice with all parts of learning conversation. I think a fast-paced and rigorous program of study equivalent to a college level language course is best for me. I want to dedicate 2.5 hours a week to private lessons. I am French, I am 19 years old, I am here for one year and I have studied Chinese at Unversity in France.
*W hy are you learning Chinese?
At the beginning, I choosed to learn Chinese to discover a new foreign language, and a new culture.
I learned Chinese for 4 years, but just a little everyweek. I would like to improve my Chinese (who is actually not good at all, because I stopped for almost one year) during my year here in the United States, because I want to take Languages as a major at University (English and Chinese) when I will go back to France.
I would like to find a teacher who help me to improve oral and written comprehension and conversations , and also to be able to speak about and to understand conversations of everyday life.
