I am a beginner with the Japanese language.
I would love to learn this language because it is not only beautiful to listen to but I would like to learn more for the next time I travel to Japan. I watch quite a bit of Japanese tv and would like to get rid of the subtitles someday. I have Japanese friends whom I'd like to speak to in their native language. If possible, I would even use it for my job if the opportunity came up.
I feel that I need improvement in all areas and feel that I will need such improvement until I become fluent.
I would like to dedicate a half hour to an hour mon-fri. But if I'm being charged it would no doubt be considerably less depending on the lesson fee.
Quali ties I'm looking for in my teacher are those of patience and commitment. Also, I would prefer my teacher to actually be Japanese as I feel this is very important.

I am currently living in Japan as an English teacher, but I'm really interested in learning the language as well. I've been studying Japanese for about 7 months, so my level is beginner. I take a lesson once a week for about 1 hour. While I enjoy it and it is very helpful, I feel that I don't get enough conversation practice. The focus is mostly vocabulary and grammar. So, I'd like to focus more on conversation/ natural speaking. I will be returning to America soon and will be living in Buffalo, NY. I would hate to lose the little knowledge of Japanese I do have, and would like to continue learning this great language. I've always wanted to be able to speak a 2nd language, and I'd like to be able to return to Japan someday and communicate with natives.
I'd like to dedicate about 1 hour to my language lesson, either once or twice a week. I'd like to continue to gain skills, but practicing those skills more with conversation. So, I guess I'd like my lesson to focus on one specific target or topic, then practice that topic using it in conversation. I think that the more I practice it, the better I will retain it.
