Hello
My name is Jim Vinson. I am interested in learning Japanese, Spanish and Portuguese because I hope to live in a country that uses one of those languages the future and would love to be able to navigate the country without any help. I learned Mandarin for three years using the Growing Participator Approach language learning program and greatly enjoyed it. I care for my elderly mother and the GPA system allowed me the opportunity to learn without being tied to a book or desk. If you are a GPA instructor please contact me. I stopped learning mandarin because my mother became very ill and I initially wanted to visit China. But in light of recent events I decided not to visit there, but chose to visit Japan instead.

Hi. I am interested in learning Japanese with the ultimate long term goal of becoming fluent. I have learned a little on my own using books and YouTube videos. I think I would benefit from interacting with a teacher and being able to ask questions and have in person help. I prefer weekend lessons if possible, because of my work schedule. I would like my lessons to start with the basics and work up from there.

I study Japanese as a hobby because I find the language beautiful and think Japan is a very interesting country which I hope to visit some day. I have been self-studying for around 2.5 years on and off. I am a beginner with a pretty solid foundation in basic grammar/vocab ulary, but as I self-study my speaking skills are very weak. I am looking for conversationa lly focused courses to work on speaking as it is the one area you absolutely cannot self study! I would like to have an hour a week lessons but plan to spend a number of additional hours studying on my own. I would prefer a native teacher but if that is not possible, anyone friendly and patient willing to speak with me in Japanese. :)
