Why you are learning your foreign language?: When I was at a very young age(8 years old), I was introduced to the Japanese culture, and was enthralled to learn everything about Japan, even if it was just basic knowledge. From that time to present, I've self taught myself the sheer basics to get the vocabulary well-known, in addition to getting traditionally trained at a community college for a year. My purpose for this training is to solidify everything that I've gained so far, but I want to start from the beginning just to be on the safe side. Also I want to put my skills to the test by applying to JLPT to get an official certification in Japanese language(Read ing and Writing, etc). All of this is for my burning desire to tour Japan and be one with its entire culture.
Y our proficiency level (e.g., beginner, etc.)? Truthfully since I've been self teaching myself for the past 20 years, I really don't have a gauge as to where my placement is. I've translated a couple of things to see if I was able to do it, and I did an acceptable job to the limited knowledge I have, but its within my own self merits. So that's the reason why I want to start from stage 1.
The areas in which you feel you need particular improvement (e.g., grammar, conversation, etc)? Definitely in Grammar and Conversation, because I usually get shy, mess up the sayings, and make out an entirely different saying from the original conversation. Writing as well, because I know if you form two different words together, it'll mean a completely different saying, or have no meaning at all.
How much time you want to dedicate to your language lessons? As much time as needed until I can read, write, and speak thoroughly. I want to be engulfed into the entire process.
W hat qualities you are looking for in your lessons or in your teacher? I want my teacher to know that I have a passion for this, and I'll take the lessons very seriously. I want them to be honest with me, give me all the knowledge that they have, from Proper Japanese, to Slang Japanese. Also to give me challenges that are attainable, and I will follow them to the letter.

I have booked a trip to Japan for the coming Summer, and I would like to improve my language skills.
Al though I can read many things, I lack comprehension at times so I still consider myself a beginner.
I would like a teacher with teaching experience, who uses visual and auditory methods to teach.

Dear Ms. I am currently in japan on vacation and loving it. However the language barrier is irritating.^_ ^. I would love to take lessons. I tried the class at Seminole community college and I couldntlearn anything. It was once a week for 2 hrs and unfortunatly, with my work schedule i couldnt seem to focus on teaching myself outside of class.I dont know that i could afford $20hr with the amount of hours im going to need. maybe you already have a class that you are working on that I could join? i have no problem comming to you where you like. - I know the basic greetings. I have no problem learning words themselves. but Im terrible at sentence strucure and grammer in general and havent learned any of the written symbols. My goal is to have a decent grasp on japanese by next year so I can come back and not irritate the natives...
Thank you, Theresa Evans
