Description |
I'm looking for a teacher for my 5 year old who is a native Spanish and English speaker. This is instead of sending him to Korean school for convenience reasons. His father speaks Korean but not well but his grandmother is a native speaker so he has exposure to the language.

Hello,
I am moving to California this January or at latest February. One of my main motivations is to learn Korean, meet new people and practice Korean.
I have lived in a Korean town in Annandale, Virginia with Korean roommates for 2 years and been around Korean culture, music and food for 10 years. I have more KPOP music and music videos than any of my chingo or tong sangs. I sometimes watch Korean soap operas with some friends but don't understand everything. I'm very good at picking up on the context. I play Korean billiards (no pockets) 4-Ball and 3-ball 3 rail.
My Korean friends really took me in several years ago and even though I am white they treated me like one of them and they just became like brothers and little sisters. On a Thursday through Saturday we would go to a chill Korean bar to hang out and eat dried squid and popcorn while drinking Miller Lite and maybe Soju or Sake or Johnny Black. Then we'd meet up at a Korean, Asian or Mix club and normally get a table. Afterwards we'd go to a 24hr Korean restaurant and get BBQ, soups and stuff. Then maybe head over to a Nul Bom to Karaoke before going home. In college I was treasure for Chinese Cultural Club but use to help coordinate events with KSA (Korean Student Association) for dances and fashion shows. Lastly, one of the ways I got involved in Korean culture and stuff was because I won a national martial arts tournament and got 4th in an international tournament. I got to meet the singer Park Ji Yoon and DJ Shine from Drunken Tiger. I thought that was very cool.
I’m older now and we don’t party really anymore but when I move to LA I'm not going to know anyone and I will definitely miss my Korean friends on the East Coast. Hopefully I can meet new friends and stay in touch with the old. I want to learn the language because I already feel very close to the culture (and it would be nice to know what Yoon Seung Jun is saying in my songs ^^) It would also be nice to joke around with friends and order food in Korean. But aside from social aspects I think there are plenty of business reasons to learn it as well. My company does business with Korea and it would be nice to expand my language skills so I can travel and discuss profession issues in Korean.
My goal is to find a small group or one on one type scenario where I can learn Korean at an accelerated pace; thus, gaining skills applicable to everyday life and professional situations. I am not looking to take just one class every once in a while but want steady instruction for at least one to two years.
Tha nk you for reading my profile. I look forward to hearing from you.
Since rely,
Tom

I'm a 2nd generation Korean American who gets by with rather poor to moderate Korean. My comprehension of Korean is reasonable, but my ability to speak Korean is rather poor. I would like to be able to speak Korean much better for professional reasons.

Hello, I am married to a native Korean and would very much like to learn the language. I am a beginner and can dedicate a couple hours a day. I will be in California for 2 months until I leave in August. I would appreciate it if you could contact me as soon as possible so we may discuss private tutoring
