I am learning Punjabi because my husband is Punjabi and it is his family's main language. I would label myself a beginner and have picked up some basics within the last 5 years (I can count to ten, identify some vegetables, ask how are you doing). I want to focus on conversation so I can communicate with my in-laws on the phone and when we visit. I am willing to dedicate daily time but cost will determine the frequency of lessons. I am looking for a fun and friendly teacher. I would love to meet in person at the San Jose King Public Library or somewhere in San Jose, but Skype is also a good option. I need a patient teacher who is skilled in presenting Punjabi in a logical sequence and can cater to lesson I can use immediately and have relevance to modern day daily conversation.

I'm searching for a punjabi language class that is for beginners. I would like a class that progressivly evolves into intermediate and then advanced. I want to learn all parts from script to conversation, however the basics like conversation, c common vocabulary and communication are priority for me. I currently am involved and hsve been for a few years with a young punjabi man, and although i understand somethings it is important i can interact completly. he is the eldest son and iam anything but closley associated by our ethnicity in fact i;m caucasion and am also a few years(3yrs)hi s senior. I need to be able to at least talk and communicate with his parents and family. As well as participate and be involved. most important too me is that i do and say the right things and do them respectfully. i want to give at least 7 hours a week to classes one on one and then i will practice within my friend circle and with my partner his brother and teir friends untill im ready to speak to his parents. as far as teachers go well i dont know if i prefer on gender over the other so thats up in the air, but i'm in need of a person who is 'batting on my team', there has been nothing nice about all the resistance and negative sterotyping and hurtfulthings said to or about me cause of my nationality alone and hard as it has been on our relationship we have come out on top and stronger than ever. I need a teacher that absolutly understands what i just said and is willing to help me find my way.
