My goals for foreign language development are dynamic in nature. I am a non-tradition al student working on a degree in business communication s and I wish to emphasis a foreign language element that can be incorporated into my studies as I plan to eventually move to Europe and utilize my skills in a professional workplace environment. I wish to understand and converse in the Slovak and German languages and the German portion can be learned locally however the Slovak cannot. Another aspect to my desire to learn the Slovak language is that of a more personal nature as my girlfriend of three years is a native of Slovakia and I wish to be able to speak to her and her family in their native tongue. I feel that it is something I must do not only for my love of foreign language development but also out of respect for her and her family. I am at this juncture a beginner of the Slovak language as well as German and I need to correct my deficiencies if I wish to me a more global citizen as that is another one of my long term goals. I wish to be able to not only speak in these new languages but hopefully become proficient in writing as well. I am quite serious about my education and enduring thirst for obtaining knowledge and currently maintain a 3.9 GPA while simultaneousl y owning and operating a business and continuing my studies as a student of the violin as music is one of my most sincerest passions that I have had the privilege of experiencing over the last 25 years. My qualification s in an instructor are simple: fair, honest, disciplined, properly educated, well developed lesson plans/syllabu ses, and most importantly; patient and easy going while delivering the required material in a well balanced and systematic approach for student comprehension . I realize that the work to understand another language rests largely upon my shoulders but I strongly feel that with the proper instruction and the required efforts on my part, I can overcome my foreign language inadequacies.
