I am currently looking to learn Cuban Spanish. I'm Cuban-America n and I feel very disconnected from my roots. I'm hoping to learn the language as it's spoken in Cuba, not only because I want to feel more connected to my culture and my people, but also because I want to visit Cuba one day. I'm unsure of how much time I will be able to spend on this with a teacher, I'm currently hoping for once or twice a month, but I will do my best to practice everyday. I'm looking for a teacher who currently lives in Cuba or knows how Cubans in Cuba speak. I also am looking for someone who can be patient with me, as I have no experience with Spanish outside of basic pronunciation of letters.

I used to be fluent after my two-month volunteership in Costa Rica in 1994. I began learning Spanish in middle school and it was one of my majors at University. I worked for the government in the late 90's as one of two Spanish speaking call center reps. Unfortunately and to my great sadness, foreign language is a skill and when I left Buffalo in 1996, I lost opportunities to continue practicing. My life and a job has brought me back to Buffalo. This new job is forcing me to bring my Spanish back up to fluency. I miss Spanish terribly and now have a boss to kick my butt to get it back, but I need help. Thank you.
