I would like to learn the lnguage for my own pleasure and as a jumping off point to become fluent in Old English, Low Saxon, etc. I have no fluency in Icelandic at all. My native language was Plattdeutsch but I have largely forgotten that language. I would like to learn proper pronouciation from a teacher and continue study from books, internet, etc.

Hi,
I'm looking for someone to tutor me for a couple weeks in the basics of Icelandic. I know only the handful of words and phrases I picked up during a visit to the island last winter, and would love to know more before I return again for vacation in late summer. My schedule is flexible. I'd love to learn as much as possible in the next month.

I am looking for a native Icelander to teach me Icelandic. My boyfriend is from Iceland and I will be visiting his family with him over Christmas. I purchased a set of CD's to learn some of the basics, but I find the pronunciation very challenging and have trouble distinguishin g some of the sounds spoken on the CD's. I am an absolute beginner and at this point am looking for simple introductory lessons, mainly to enhance my experience over Christmas. My boyfriend lives long-distance and is rather shy about teaching me, so I thought it would be nice to get lessons. I'd like a conversationa l teacher to help me with the alphabet, 'small talk', and basic grammar. I'd be available to meet once or twice a week until Christmas. After that, we'll play it by ear.

I am a beginner interested in learning the ins and outs of the icelandic language. I have many friends who reside there, and i hope to lower the language barrier that can sometimes crop up when we speak.
I am willing to dedicate the time that it takes to learn this language. My devotion is based on the need i have to be able to converse freely with my friends.
I 'd prefer a live lesson, but internet/phon e teachings can be discussed. I'm not familiar with such ways, but perhaps after talking it over i may be interested.
