I am a beginner who has started from texts and audio CDs. I've been self learning from 'Buntus Cainte Part 1' with CD's and 'Teach Yourself Irish' with CDs.
Irish developed in isolation on an island country for hundreds of years and the arts have contributed to the writing system and to it's unique customs and beliefs. I have studied Japanese for years for the same reasons. I have deep anthropologic al and historical interests.
As well, I've only recently discovered that my hometown of Kansas City has a large community of Irish descendants, Irish history and the oldest Irish business in the US. This excites me. I want to know as much as I can about it and research in original Irish in a few years. As well I may be able to learn something about my connection to it.
But, I'm having difficulty with the Irish writing system and the aural comprehension of slender and broad vowels.
I am looking for a directed program, from a native speaker.

I am interested in learning the Irish language. I have little to no experience in the specific language and am looking for a teacher that can take me from beginner to being fluent (or at least help me get there). I've always had a fascination with the language and wish to learn because my heritage is, though not fully, mostly Irish.
