Teaching Approach

In the sessions I always encourage the student to completely forget that they speak English, and to try their hardest to speak purely in Spanish. I think this is essential because in my experience languages are best learned intuitively. Normally I ask a student to keep a notebook in which to record new vocabulary and grammatical rules that are learned in conversation. I try to first help students find some comfort in conversation, and then test the limits of their abilities to find weaknesses and gaps in knowledge, which are addressed on the spot and recorded in the students notebook. Overall, I try to avoid teaching through the memorization of grammatical rules and vocabulary sheets.

I was born in the USA, and lived there for fifteen years before moving to Madrid, where I finished my schooling.
F rom 2004 to 2007 I was a private English teacher in Spain. I gave weekly lessons to children, aged 9-11.
