My teaching approach combines personalized learning plans, cultural integration, practical application, open communication , and a focus on fostering independence.
I am native Sinhalese speaker and grew up in Colombo, Sri Lanka. I received an A for Sinhala language and literature in my ordinary level exams. I am now in my final year of medical school in the UK. I have experience with peer teaching, tutoring A level students, mentoring students from widening participation backgrounds planning to attend medical school and have taught basic life support to first year healthcare students. I am excited to share Sinhalese language and culture with those interested.

Program Description

I offer tailored and interactive Sinhalese language lessons for beginner adult learners. Practical language application is emphasized by incorporating real-world scenarios, enabling students to gain confidence in everyday Sinhalese interactions through conversationa l practice. To reinforce language skills, I encourage immersive activities such as watching Sinhalese films, and listening to Sinhalese music.
Should students desire, I extend beyond language skills to provide insight into Sinhalese culture; lessons may explore traditions, festivals, customs, and social norms.
I maintain open communication to address concerns and promote independence through self-study guidance. My holistic approach aims not only to teach the Sinhalese language but also to instill cultural appreciation and practical language skills.
