Pinyin -- introduce the four tones, basic pinyin to pronounce Chinese mandarin

I will lead into more freer practice with the use of such things as simple everyday scenarios that the students can practise in pairs/groups or as a class, depending on numbers. This might take the form of a conversation, role play or discussion, depending on the level.
I like to involve some elements of my own province's culture, such as dialect and local customs. I am from Yunnan Province, which contains many ethnic groups as well as Han Chinese.
