Making students feel comfortable and empowering their use of the new language are the most important components of my teaching style. I use a lot of encouragement and positive reinforcement , and try to get students to speak even if they are unsure of themselves. The best way to do this is through games and targeting their interests. Repetition is also a key component of my teaching approach, as well as peer and group learning. |

Activity with a small class of 20 students of 35 minutes
I could plan many activities for this time limit. One such activity would be: (for the age group of 15 to 17 years) to divide the class in groups of 4 or 5. Each group will receive a personality´s picture. They will describe the person using various parts of speech. Say, 10 sentences each group. The groups will try to guess each other’s secret personality by posing questions. The team that guesses the answer with the fewest number of questions would be the winner.

I find out how the students operate by testing what approach of learning is preferred and use my creativity to energise the student. I like to use video/audio recording of British shows as a means to engage the student and demonstrate the relevancy of the language taught and give them a taste of British everyday culture. |
