I grew up in the philippines until i was 5 years old. i have a lot of family there and i would love to be able to communicate with them when i visit them. i can grasp the topic of a conversation but i am not able to join in. i think i would like to dedicate a year for the lessons, depending on how quick or slow i pick up the language, that might change. i need a teacher to teach me conversationa l tagalog and who is patient and can give me activities that i can do on my own aside from the lessons.

I am a beginner in Tagalog. Both of my parents are Filipino and fluent in Tagalog. Growing up in Canada, I was not receptive, nor interested in learning their native language and now I regret it. I find it embarassing to not know how to speak Tagalog, especially when I visit the Philippines and everyone assumes that I understand or speak the language.
I would like to be able to have a conversation in Tagalog and have good comprehension .
I am willing to commit to one lesson every week.
I am looking for a teacher who is flexible, practical, PATIENT and has a great sense of humor.
