Fluent Latin Speaker and Latin Textbook Author!
I teach Latin, Ancient Greek, Spanish, and English. My approach to teaching all languages is essentially the same, a dual focus on grammar and conversation. The awful truth is that most students who study a language never end up learning it because of poor curriculum and/or teaching. Most ancient language curriculum (Latin, Ancient Greek, etc.) neglects conversation, while most modern language curriculum (Spanish, English, French, etc.) fails to teach the student the basic structure and logic of the language. If a student wishes to gain advanced competence (and enjoy the journey!), then both aspects must be included.

As a college graduate with a Bachelor's degree in Linguistics, I use my understanding of the fundamental similarities and differences across languages to put myself in my students' shoes, in order to allow them to fully comprehend the ways English and Spanish function differently or similarly to their own native language.
