I lived in Germany for 4 years starting at the age of about 60, even got married there to a German native! I am now 72 and living in America with my German wife. She is not the best teacher of German because it seems to frustrate her being a teacher of German! I continue to mentally resist the new language and therefore have had to take a disciplined approach to undo this resistance. We travel to Germany every year to visit her family and I simply must evolve into a comfortable speaker of German or forever remain isolated in Germany until someone decides to speak English!
