I am very much a beginner but this is long overdue. My wife and son are Thai and we visit Thailand twice a year. I am willing to dedicate the amount of time recommended by the teacher. I have taken lessons in the past through Berlitz when I worked in Thailand unfortunately the teacher I had at the time was not very effective.

Goeiemore I am planning to travel to South Africa and I want to learn as much Afrikaans as possible before I go. I have been studying intensely over the past two months but my progress is slow. This is rather frustrating for me as I generally comprehend foreign languages fairly easily.
The amount of time I want to dedicate to Afrikaans language lessons would be as much as 20hours per week, but no less than 4hours per week. Such instruction should be led by someone who is either a native speaker or who has spent years in an Afrikaans-spe aking community. (I'm open to someone who speaks Afrikaans who is trying to learn English, as a sort of language exchange.) This is because my goal is to have conversationa l command of the language with a solid foundation in grammar. My preference is for a instructor in the Houston area but I am open to other means. I am willing to pay accordingly for all this, so if you speak Afrikaans please contact me! Thank you.
