I have been trying to learn Kiswahili for a number of years now. I taught at Tumaini University and took a few courses at the Baptist center. I want to become more proficient in conversation so that I can communicate beter with the area clergy and evangelists on my sabbatical. I am a parish pastor in the US and have been to Tanzania 4 times with mission groups and am a leader in developing a new secondary school in the region of Magulilwa. I would consider myself a beginner-inte rmediate stage in Kiswahili. I am looking to use this language to better position myself into a role within our church body to work in Tanzania.
I would like to use three weeks in June 2007 M-F in language study and the weekends in the Magulilwa region. (June 11-29, 2007)
I had a person from northern Tanzania who was an excellent teacher. I had heard he was at your River Camp. He started with the verbs and this really helped me to become orientated to Kiswahili.
I am going to take an 8 week beginner's course (2 hours each week) here in the US (January through March)

I am a beginner, I know very little. I would like to be as proficient as possible in Chinese/Manda rin and also be able to read/write as well eventually. I have tried to self teach and find it not so easy tho I do keep trying but I am looking for a teacher who is patient and can help me to achieve my goal. This is for work, travel and personal. Beginner in Spanish.
I plan on going into international business and would like to be fluent in several languages.
Spanish I need to learn more words, rules, etc.
I am also interested in learning Mandarin Chinese as well as Arabic eventually. I have no experience in these.
I can spend several hours per week right now as I am currently in school and work full time. During school breaks I would be willing to devote much more time as this is something I really want to accomplish.
