I am very interested in learning the foundations of Arabic. I have purchased a number of books and the Rosetta Stone software, but still find it to be quite difficult working at one's own pace. Additionally, I am interested in the social customs and taboos which my offent natives.
I am willing to do whatever is asked of me, in order to learn the language. My goals are to have a working understanding of native speakers, the ability to read local signs and newspapers. Eventually I am interested in being able to write in Arabic, but this is a far off goal. For now understanding and being able to communicate on a basic level would be great. I do plan to work as a paramedic and registered nurse in a predominatly Arabic speaking area, so medically related basics are also important.

I am an employee within the Department of Homeland Security and often find that in my daily activities it would benefit to be able to communicate in Korean. I also have a girlfriend who is Korean and I would love to be able to speak basic Korean with her and her family. I will be a basic student. I am willing to dedicate 10-15 hours a week.
