I am a missionary that has been to Haiti 13 times over the years for short two week stays. Now I am going to return to Haiti on a month there and a month at home basis.
I know some words in Creole but I have been lazy in remembering the words. I now am committed to learning the spoken language as I will need to communicate with my Haitian brothers and sisters on a more personal level.
I need to know what dictionaries I need to purchase, hopefully I can get some on CD or on-line.
I am 64 years old, male, married with grandchildren .
I have a degree in Architecture and am an experienced mechanic that was born and raised on a farm in Idaho.
I am excited to be able to return to Haiti for longer periods of time so I can share some of the knowledge and skills I have been blessed to acquire over the years.
I am willing to commit 1 to 2 hours a day to learn Creole.

i lived in serbia when i was was very little and i know some very basic skills but need mcuh improvement i would like to get as good as possible at speaking serbian i need help witj grammar and vocabulary i would like to dedicate around 2 to 3 classes a week. the qualities i am looking for in a language teacher are a good helpfull teacher who can succesfully increase my working nowlwdge of the serbian language.

I lived in Japan for 5 years during which time I developed intermediate language skills. I've never studied Japanese in a formal setting...alw ays on my own using books, tapes, and so forth.
I'd like to continue studying Japanese as it seems a shame to let what abilitities I have go to waste through lack of use. Also, I do plan on returning to Japan in the next 2 years and I'm sure my time would be more enjoyable if I have a stronger grasp of the spoken language. Speaking of which, while I can read Hiragana and Katakana, I have no interest in learning Kanji. I want to be at a high level in conversationa l Japanese. The written language is of no interest to me.
As to the amount of time I am able to invest in studying, I'd say 1 face-to-face meeting per week and then 1 hour a night of self study going over the material we convered in the one-on-one.
I'm looking for an experienced teacher. One knowledgeable in preparing level-appropr iate lessons.
