While I speak bits and pieces of several languages, I'd really like to improve my French. I have some of the basics of the language down, mais, la/le? grammaire est difficile! I have a strong desire to tour with my company and speaking the language more fluently would be a tremendous asset.
I have Mondays off and am available most mornings. I'd like to try for at least 2-3 hours with a tutor a week--then practice when I get to work.
I think that with individualize d focus, I might be able to pick it up more quickly.

I would say I am an intermediate level Portuguese learner. I took one semester of Portuguese 5 years ago but just got back from a two week stay in Salvador where I took classes every day. I have also studied Spanish for many years . I'm learning because I am a comparative literature PhD student and my project involves a Brazilian poet. I would like to really increase my conversationa l skills. I am already able to read newspapers, essays and some literature without the use of a dictionary, but I still produce the language at a basic level. I would like a teacher who will push me to speak and will help me gain conversationa l skills that would eventually enable me to conduct interviews with Portuguese speakers.
