I'm a beginning student. I began studying pu3 tong1 hua4 at the end of January 2006. A Chinese-speak ing friend explained the tones to me one day, and then I was no longer intimidated. So I bought a set of Pimsleur CDs mostly out of curiosity, and I was hooked immediately. I have continued with the CDs, and have taken two beginners classes. One was at the Lanuage Institute of Atlanta, the other was at the Atlanta Chinese School. I feel I am now ready for more intensive study.
I prefer a well-structur ed and challenging teaching approach. I am not going to be turned off by difficult homework assignments-- in fact I expect them! I am a quick learner with a pretty good ear and good pronunciation (for a beginner), although I do have problems getting the rhythm right.
My immediate goal is to become functionally literate. Eventually I would like to become fluent.

Hello and thank you for considering this email.
I have a group of 5 to 10 people who are extrememly interested in learning spanish. I had a spanish tutor lined up to begin teaching our group in two weeks, but he recently emailed me and informed me he could no longer drive to us to teach the class.
Each of us knows very limited spanish and we are most interested in learning just general conversation skills. One member in our group will be getting married in Spain in a year and myself and my business partner plan to take a paragliding trip to Mexico and would like to be able to communicate with residents there. One of our members is a real estate agent expanding to the latin community and would like to be able to better communicate with his clients.
We are dedicated to one to two hours of classroom time a week, but we definitely need the tutor to come to us. We also need someone who could meet us early morning aroun 8AM or 9AM.

I am a beginner, although I know a few simple words. I am learning this language because I have made two trips to the Philippines so far and I would love to learn the national language. I would love to learn the language to a point where I would be able to hold decent conversations . How much time I dedicate to my language lessons would have to be discussed with my teacher... whatever they feel is appropriate, I suppose. I would like my teacher to be friendly and patient and can stay on task. I hope the teacher enjoys what they do, because I want to learn, but I also want to have fun.
