Actually, I am not currently learning either French (aside from 1 semester in 7th grade) or Arabic, but I am interested in learning both. I am a medical student and would like to practice international ly at some point in my career. I have rudimentary proficiency in German, but I don't forsee embarking on any humanitarian missions to Germany, Austria, Switzerland, etc... As noted before, I do not have a basic knowledge of either French of Arabic, so instruction would need to begin at the basic level--though , having studied a foreign language before might expedite things. I would be able to dedicate 1-2hrs/week as my current formal education occupies a considerable amount of my time. I would be looking for a teacher who would be flexible on a month to month, week to week schedule, with reasonable teaching experience. Also, I would be interested in group sessions if costs would be alleviated.

I loved the time I spent in Germany and would like to be able to visit with the people I meet there in their language.
I am a blank slate when it comes to my German speaking abilities. I have learned a few words after spending a month in Germany. I would like to learn the language as I will be spending time in Germany for my job.

I have just returned from six weeks in Moscow and feel 90% on the cyrillic letters and enjoyed translating the many westernized words on signs and buildings. I am listening to Pimsleur tapes and doing Rosetta Stone computer learning. The two things that hold me back are confidence in practicing the few words I know. I would like to be in a position that forces me to talk. Also, naturally, the sounds are very difficult to dissect. I am returning to Moscow in May/June2006 for six months and I want to enhance the overall experience. One thing I have noticed is that the lovely Russian people want only perfect pronunciation or they pick you apart. I would be happy to just communicate and exchange simple ideas, the same way that they speak English.

I am half Lebanese and spoke Arabic when I was very young and lived in Lebanon for a year. Since then I have not used it and have almost completely forgotten the language. I want to re-learn it but I am defintely a beginner. If possible, I am looking for someone who can teach the Lebanese dialect. If not, I would like to learn a dialect as close to Lebanese as possible (Syrian, Palestnian, etc.) I am a student and an artist interested in taking the initiative to re-discover things I have lost/forgotte n about my Middle Eastern background and I feel language is the first place to start. In the future I would like to study in the Middle East, or at least do some extensive travelling. I predict this will be a large part of my art-making process. Thus, learning the language would be beneficial for me as an artist, but most importantly, it means a lot to me emotionally and spiritually. I would like a private tutor for approximately two hours a week for an extended period of time (at least a year). I prefer the person come to my house or that we meet in a public space. I would like to learn how to speak, read, and write, but conversationa l skills are by far the most imprtant to me. I am looking for a patient, knowledgeable and serious teacher who will challenge me and help with the goal to which I am very didicated.
