Dear Sir or Madam:
I am a complete beginner in learning the language of Mandarin. I ahve not taken any lessons whatsoever. I have visited China 2 times and intend on visiting it frequently in the next year.
I currently run a Kung Fu school. I am the Sifu of the school. I would like to learn Chinese because it is part of the culture of the martial art that I teach. I also will be marrying a chinese girl in the future. I need to learn chinese to talk to her parents in the future. It is important that I show an effort to learn chinese to be accepted by this family culture.
As far as how much time I have to put into the lessons, I am only available to do the tutoring on Sundays. My work schedule makes it really difficult to do any onther time. I am available in the mornings on Monday at 9 am for one hour and Thursdays at 10 am for one hour. However, it would be most convenient to do the lessons on Sundays for one to 2 hours. I will be able to study about one hour a night every night and with the help of my chinese girlfriend. I chat with ther every evening and night on MSN messenger and I talk to her on the phone every morning.
The qualities that I look for in a language teacher are patience, expertise, and adaptability to their student. I am a teacher myself and very diciplined. I will expect to do most of the work in learning this language.
