Hello,
I'm looking to begin study in Mandarin Chinese. This is a personal interest of mine and I have no prior education on the subject. I'm interested in reading & writing, including the character system. I can meet for an hour or two once a week or biweekly what ever is convenient. I'm looking for a teacher who is good with beginners and can develop a solid lesson plan to fit my learning speed & style. I'm college educated and used to learning in that format but I don't mind stepping outside of the traditional learning model to try something new. Thank you for your time.

The lessons would be for my daughter, Cory, age 15, who wishes to learn Korean as a foreign language requirement at her charter school. Her choice of the Korean language rather than perhaps Spanish is based on her strong interest in the Asian countries and cultures as well as a goal of using the Korean language in her career. She has independently studied from texts and online, yet is considered a beginner.
She would expect a minimum of one hour direct teaching per week in addition to assignments and practice outside of class. Her teacher should be somewhat patient but set expectations for Cory. Also a native speaker whom is able to impart not only the language but the cultural appropriatene ss of useage and accent.
