Re:translation
I is a subject pronoun while me is an object pronoun this means that i is used as the subject of a sentence for example I study english, generally you would never start a sentence with me. Me is used as a object pronoun , it is used when the action is being carried out on the person, for example My mother is going to buy me a book. My mother is the subject,as she is the doer of the action, the action is buying the book, and i am the object because the book is being bought for me.When you are the doer of the action you use I when you are the receiver you use me.

Re:gender mathing in sentence
Hi Lawrence, you got some confusion about the sentence "zamiin par koii parhaa thaa" (Somebody was lying on the ground). This sentence is correct and there is no error with the gender. Your question is if zamiin (land or ground) is female, why is parhaa not parhii or thaa not thii(zamiin par koii parhii thii). It is because of the word "koii"(someone) is masculine by default. Here, "koii" determines the gender, not "zamiin". However,if you know that "koii"(someone) to be female, the second sentence is also correct.
A pronoun.. Generally, its 1st person apnaa-mine,ours(male) apnii-mine,ours(female) e.g. I do my work(mai apnaa kaam karta hun)
But can be used in 2nd person also. e.g.Do your work.(apnaa kaam karo)
Even in 3rd person,it can be used. e.g. He does his work.(woh apnaa kaam karta hain)
So, apnaa means one's own.
I think all these helps. Wishing you a happy new year. Siddharth

gender mathing in sentence
So my teach yourself book has this sentence. It's zamiin par koii parhaa thaa. Sorry about it not being in devanagari (doubled letters make it long voweled). So my question is if zamiin (land or ground) is female, why is parhaa not parhii or thaa not thii.
