Persian is an Iranian tongue belonging to the Indo-Iranian branch of the Indo-European family of languages.
It is widely spoken in Iran, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and to some extent in Iraq, Bahrain, and Oman.
New Persian, usually is called also by the names of Farsi, Parsi, Dari or Parsi-ye-Dari (Dari Persian).
