Re:Japanese woman is looking for English native speaker
Hi there! Firstly, I'm not a native English speaker but I moved to Canada from Hong Kong at a young age and grew up in an English-speaking environment. Recently, I've been taking beginner Japanese lessons once a week and am now thinking of studying the language in greater depth. No matter what, I still think it's best to make more friends who are part of that culture/nation if you want to become better at a language. In fact, I'm also pretty interested in knowing more about Japan in addition to what I've been learning in class. So far, I think I really appreciate the mannerism of a few Japanese people I've met and I'd like to know more who I can frequently talk to! Lastly, I'm not a gold member so please msg me if you're interested. :\

Re:hi~ my name is Wanda from Taiwan hope to be your foreign friend~
Hi there! I'm a 22 yr old male from Hong Kong and am currently taking intermediate Mandarin lessons aiming to improve my writing skills and vocabulary. I was born in Hong Kong but went to Canada at a young age and grew up in an English-speaking environment. I can speak Cantonese and English fluently and Mandarin quite well, but I'm still looking for more friends who speak Mandarin. Please message me if you wanna know me as I'm not a gold member. If you're not as well, then I'd like to know you more before any of us really pays...

Re:Re:Re:I want to make friends who are from English-speaking countries.
Hello there! Firstly, I must say that I also feel lucky, to be able to find someone who's Japanese and wants to improve on their English on a 'free' online bulletin. In fact, I've been searching for other websites too, that could allow me to meet some Japanese people because after about 4 months of studying the language, I really felt I should start using what I've learnt and try applying it to real life. I think I already seem to be quite enthusiastic about learning in class, like I'd try answering questions frequently, and even tried to initiate some conversation with the teacher at times after class. But the thing is, my teacher is native Japanese and does not really know a lot of English, Mandarin or Cantonese so he can only really teach with a limited set of vocabulary to a Cantonese audience. So after all, it's quite hard to get to know him better because I've tried talking to him in English but he just seemed not very comfortable with it so I asked him things in Japanese such as 'where do you live?', 'how long have you been in Hong Kong?', 'where is your family right now?', etc, lol. But no matter what, I think I still like this teacher very much because I think he's very nice and well-mannered, like he'd still treat other students in the class with equality even when they seem to have not much motivation... Btw, it's actually a class with no required qualifications at all so anyone interested in learning Japanese can apply for it. At the moment, there's six including me in the class and we just had the first test last week that'd take us to the next level if we pass. But I still worry whether those people would want to continue learning because they just seemed not so enthusiastic in class... If that's the case, the next level class would be cancelled due to a shortage of students. As a result, I might need to apply for private lessons again, which is what I started with because all the group lessons already started at that moment back then... and it's a lot more expensive, even more than a private English lesson I'd say. However, if I think I'm 'that' interested in learning Japanese, I'd still go for the private lessons. :) Anyway, I've been talking about my stuff quite much and still haven't told you whether I'm a gold member or not. And the answer is, unfortunately... no. I already read and studied the 'guidelines' quite meticulously and it seems that it wants us to pay after all. But if we really want to know each other, then I guess the money would be worth it. So, can you tell me more about yourself? :)
