Re:La difference entre 2 structures
Je suis un étudiant italien de 21 ans.
"Faillir" signifie "être sur le point de" dans le sens de "risquer de". "J'ai failli tomber" signifie "j'ai risqué de tomber".
"Etre sur le point" est neutre et correspond au futur proche "aller + infinitif", qui est d'ailleurs plus commun.
J'espère que c'est clair.

Sto cercando gli amici italiani
Ciao, sono una ragazza giapponese. Ho studiato l'italiano in Italia,
ma non ho tanti occasioni di praticarlo. Vorrei avere gli amici con cui posso parlare delle cose interessanti in italiano. Se vuoi imparare giapponese, posso aiutarti.

Re:this is so cool
"Slang" and "argot" are more or less equivalent (one is English and the other one French). They are languages used by little social groups.

Re:the meaning
Hi. I think you refer to italian proverb "tra il dire e il fare c'¨¨ di mezzo il mare". It means: "it's easier said than done". I try to translate it literally: "between talking and doing there is the see".
"di mezzo il mare" means: "there is the see between....."

I hope my english understandble otherwise you can contact me.
Bye
