Teaching world languages, teacher training
I am an American school teacher trained to teach art, but now I am preparing to change to teaching languages. I currently work as a substitute teacher. I have art certification, and added a secondary certification in German. I also started volunteering for ESL/ELL for adults. I want to improve my German, and hope next year to start Masters studies in teaching German, and maybe later add Mandarin. I already know a little Mandarin, and some of the culture from living briefly in Taiwan as a girl. Languages are an "elective" for school children here-how is it in other US states, and other countries? What kind of techniques do you use with learners?
