Interested in Greek Literature?
My name is Ana. I travel to Greece every year and I am very interested in Greek Literature and Music. I love poetry by George Seferis and also read books about the German Occupation and the Greek Civil War. Does anyone recommend any good authors or poets etc??

Re:Interested in Greek Literature?
Hi Ana
I'm Eugenia and I'm Greek..
Well from poetry I would suggest: Odisseas Elitis, Nikos Kavadias, (my favourite one) Kariotakis,Eggonopoulos, Kiki Dimoula (modern poet).
From authors: Nikos Kazantzakis & Dido Sotiriou. One of my favourite books is Elia Kazan's "Pera ap'to Aigaio" (it is also translated in numerous languages but I don't know the english title).
If philosophy, politics, theater, sociology, psychology interest you, I would definately suggest ancient Greek writers such as Aristotle, Aristofanis, Platonas etc.
Hope I've helped you...
Kisses

Please help!!!!
I'm trying to learn Modern Greek and have many questions. My first is how do you do the subjunctive (na) or do "kai" when na doesn't mean to or must and when "kai" doesn't mean "and" or "even"?
Examples:
Ma eida kai stin Atheena
Oso kai na thelo
alla kai
einai ki'aftos enas eirmos
Ee mikhanee sto seemeio na ksekineesei.
Also what does Ki'an mean if not "and if"?
Thanks,
Renee
