Yes, ju jitsu seems to be a very complete system. But as far as I know, Ju jitsu is focused mainly in the grappling and trapping distance, and in all the fights that I have seen, the main objetive is try to dominate your rival on the floor, and win the fight with a KO or by submission when he surrenders. The vale tudo fights are almost free fights with a few rules, and the majority of the fighters are trained in ju jitsu or submission grappling, this is because in these kind of fights the jugdes give more points to the fighter when the fight is taken to the floor, because it is more violent and therefore, I think, they will consider more spectacular; For me the best fights are the muay thai combats, there aren't so violent but more much spectacular
