Details: I am an experienced maltese language tutor. I have prepared a number of maltese language courses. These courses are not only bilingual but the text of the reader is identical to the cd. I have outlined my maltese courses 1. Merhba 1 - Maltese Language and Culture Course This course consists of 30 audio tapes/CDs and accompanying readers. There are two lessons on each tape. Each lesson is divided into five parts ie conversation, reading, grammar, writing and history and culture. The courses are not only bilingual ie English and Maltese but the text of the reader is identical to the tape. This means that the student, reads, listens and has the opportunity to practise because there is a pause on the tape. I normally sell five audio tapes/CDs and their accompanying reader for 110 Australian dollars or you can purchase the whole course (30 audio tapes/Cds) for 550 Australian dollars 2. Merhba 2 - Maltese Language Conversation Course The emphasis of this course is on conversation. The course is also bilingual and the text of the reader is identical to the tape/Cds. There are two lessons on each tape. Each lesson is divided into reading, about the language and history and culture. I normally sell this course for 110 Australian dollars. 3. Merhba 3 - Holidays in Malta. This is a sequel to Merhba 2. The cost and structure is the same. The only difference is that all the action of Merhba 3 happens in Malta. 4. Merhba 4 - The Rosary This kit is also bilingual and the tape is identical to the text of the reader. I recite the rosary. The cost of this course is 16.50 Australian dollars 5. Merhba 5 - The Rosary This kit consists of one audio tape. On one side I recite the rosary in Maltese and on the other side I recite it in English. The cost is the same as Merhba 4. 6. Learning Maltese with Nannu (Grandpa) Karm Parts 1-3 This is basically a childrens' course. Learning Maltese with Nannu Karm Part 1 consists of an audio tape/CD, reader and activity book. There are six lessons on the tape. Each lesson is divided into three parts ie reading, story of nannu Karm and Things to do. In the reading session, Nannu Karm sends his kangaroo Sprig to Malta. Sprig brings back a few words from Malta. Nannu Karm makes a few easy sentences relating to the child's everyday experiences. The child learns to count from one to ten, common greetings, talks about food and drink, Maltese names of children, etc. In the stories section, I narrate a story in English about my childhood days in Malta and my first experiences in Australia. I also teach the children Maltese traditional songs. In the Things to do section, the child gets a picture which he must colour in and write a few words in Maltese. The activity book is full of word puzzles. This should reinforce what the student has read in the reader. Parts 2 and Parts 3 are more challenging because I introduce grammar. I sell each Part for 27.50 Australian dollars. This series is bilingual, the text of the reader is identical to the tape and last but not least I present the English phonetic pronounciation of the Maltese words. More specifically, you may get the word xemx (sun) and in brackets you get shemsh. I find adults like this last feature. 7. Fjamma 1 This kit consists of an audio tape/CD and reader. This kit is all in Maltese. I narrate stories about the old Maltese customs. The cost of this kit is only 16.50 Australian dollars. 8. Flame 1 This kit is all in English. It consists of an audio tape and a reader. It is almost a word for word translation of Fjamma 1. The cost is the same as Fjamma 1. 9. Maltese Cookbook If you really want to immerse yourself into the Maltese culture, you should try some Maltese cooking. I have a beautifully illustrated book regarding maltese cooking. Price $33 Now, Merhba 1 is the most comprehensive course. It would be useful for those students who want to learn Maltese in some depth. Merhba 2 and Merhba 3 are popular with students who are pressed for time and plan to visit Malta shortly. Merhba 4 and Merhba 5 and Flame 1 and Fjamma 1 products would suit students who want to immerse themselves in the language. Alternatively Merhba 4, Merhba 5 and Fjamma 1 would make an excellent present for some ageing Maltese who feels a bit of nostalgia for the old country. Learning Maltese with Nannu Karm is a children's course but it is popular with some adults because I give the phonetic pronounciation of the words Now there are some other attractive features about my courses including the following: 1. I offer all my students a free backup service. This means that if you have a problem, all you have to do is to contact me and I will help you for free. This makes my courses superior to anything that you can buy at a shop. 2. Your course notes will be updated continually for free because I will send email notes about the grammar, culture and history of Malta. 3. I have drawn heavily on the Maltese culture to give my courses that unique Maltese flavour. Thus the background of one of the lessons is the common and popular feast of the Imnarja. This means that people who have been in Malta will be familiar with some of the spots that I mention in my courses. Secondly if you have never been the course will serve as a travel guide. 4. A modern language has a vocabulary of 50,000 words and of these 3000 are used 95% of the time. I tried to concentrate on the 3000 word group. This means that my courses are useful and relevant. I also use the Maltese font. 5. According to the latest studies, the creative industry is worth 2.3 trillion dollars. One way of increasing your creative powers is to learn the grammar of another language. You will certainly do this if you purchase one of my courses. In the case of Merhba 1, you will study formal grammar in the grammar section but you will also learn grammatical points through the conversation session. Merhba 2 and Merhba 3 also cover grammar through the conversation in the session called about the language. Incidentally, if you buy Merhba 2 and Merhb 3 as a set, you will only pay 180 Australian dollars.. 6. If some special occasion is coming up, just let me know and I will send you the appropriate words and you can make a Maltese card. This means that you will be hitting two birds with one stone. You will be practising your written Maltese and you will give a lot of pleasure to the recipient. Now the above prices don't include postage. Please add an extra $8.80 for postage and packing. I prefer to be paid in advance. Incidentally, I also work as a Maltese language translator and I also teach by correspondence Indonesian, Italian, Latin and French.
