Details: EDUCATION: University of Washington Seattle, Washington, USA 1997 - 2002 Degree:Bachelor of Arts in English Literature with an Emphasis on Teaching Universiteit Utrecht Utrecht, Netherlands 2003 - 2004 Degree:Master of Philosophy in Linguistics WORK HISTORY: ELangTutor Online Teacher 2002 - 2003 Activities: In teaching English to students aged 8 to 40 in an online classroom environment, I used a web camera and headset microphone, creating face to face interaction. A virtual whiteboard allowed me to draw and open supplementary lesson material. For the most part materials were supplied, but I often created and implemented my own lesson plans to give further practice and understanding on difficult subjects. For the essay writing classes I utilized only my own material. CERTIFICATIONS: Having recently completed a TESOL certification course given by St. Mary’s College, London (Trinity) I am now a fully qualified teacher of English. This course focused on communicative learning activities to enhance the motivation of the language learner; the focus was primarily functional, but an appropriately deep understanding of structural language was also stressed. SUPPLEMENTARY SKILLS: I am imaginative and flexible; I believe that creativity is essential for the planning of lessons and games. I am a team player who is looking for an exciting group of teachers to work with. I am also an efficient and flexible office worker who thrives on finding creative solutions to difficult problems. I have a well-developed understanding of word-processors and spreadsheets, and the ability to accomplish several activities at once. |
