I have just arrived home from Teaching English as a Second language in Seoul, South Korea and would like to continue learning Korean while living here in Canada. I am planning on going back to Korea eventually and would like to be able to be more self sufficient and independent. My partner is Korean and has made the effort to learn English. I am a beginner in spanish who can basically get by when in a foreign country, i.e. ordering food, asking basic questions, asking for a place to stay, etc. I can understand a good amount of conversation but am unable to articulate my thoughts back. I have some understanding of vocabulary and verb conjugation which allow me to read basic spanish, i.e. maps, hotel info, websites etc.
I'd like to learn Spanish b/c I would ultimately like to travel and perhaps one day work in South America; however, my most pressing needs are the fact that I am visiting Spain in late August (4 mths from now) and would like to be able to improve my conversationa l skills.
I could probably dedicate about 3-5 hrs a week; the main qualities I'm looking for in a teacher are someone who understands different learning styles, is able to understand my learning needs, and who pushes me to improve (i.e. will not revert to English when I'm struggling, will push me with homework, etc.)
