I am a complete beginner in every sense of the word.
I want to learn Gaelic because it's the language of my ancestors. My father's family was from Scotland and my mother's Ireland. I'm not sure how similar the two are, I do know from past conversations with people that there are distinct differences, but would like to learn some of both.
I would like to learn conversationa l Gaelic so that when my brother and I rent a house this coming summer I would be able to speak some Gaelic. We're going to rent this house in Scotland, so that's my first preference, Scottish Gaelic, but we're also travelling to Ireland. (I was there last year and know that Irish is now a working language there and would like to learn it as well.)
I could dedicate at least an hour a day or some days more to learning the language.
I am looking for a teacher with a good foundation in teaching conversationa l Gaelic, as opposed to one teaching textbook methods of grammatical structure, etc.

Qua lities I am looking for in the lessons: a good mix of vocabulary and grammar; I would like to learn to write as well as to speak Thai.
My wife has tried to teach me Thai, but she has little patience and I need something a bit more formal as an anchor. (She can still help with language practice.)
