I am a beginner. I am looking to learn Polish because that is the language the my fiance speaks. Although I don't require it to speak with him, it is difficult sometimes with his family because their english isn't the best. I thought that I could try and meet them half way. I can read and write in Ukrainian, but I don't understand it. My conversation skills are extremely basic and limited. My reason for learning the language is that I was brought up in a Ukrainian family that rarely spoke the language, but I've always had a strong desire to learn. I hope to travel to Ukraine in the future too. My goal is to be able to carry on conversations in Ukrainian at an intermediate level with ease and to be able to have a good understanding of someone speaking Ukrainian. I would like to meet with my tutor twice a week with intensive training and I am interested in getting a University level teacher. I want a teacher that will teach me casually but will jump in and correct my mistakes. I would prefer a talkative teacher so that I can absorb as much Ukrainian as possible. My teacher should have lessons for me to work on between our meetings, like perhaps a list of verbs to focus on and basic Ukrainian reading material.
