I have visited China three time over the past year for business. I realize that it would be beneficial for me to have some basic skills in communicating in Mandarin, for business needs as well as for vacation.
Fo lowing my visits to China, I started to use lessons on compact disks but my progress is slow to date.
My current work requires me to travel frequently, approximately 25% or the time. Consequently, I would appreciate a teacher who has some flexibility in time, able to provide me with a schedule of possibly two sessions per week.
Idea lly, I would like to start by developing basic conversation skills.

I am a beginner in learning Japanese. At the moment I am using a CD/Book combo to try and get used to the basics of the language. For a long time I've had a great interest in Japanese culture and history and would one day like to take an extended visit to Japan. With my current job I am only able to take lessons on the weekend, but every day of the week I'm always studying any book or learning source I can get my hands on and I'm confident that I can learn very quickly.

Sir, Madam,
I would like to learn to speak Hindi or Punjabi because I enjoy speaking other languages (I fluently speak, read and write French, English and Spanish).
My husband and his family speak Hindi and Punjabi and I would love to be able to easily converse with them and also be able to communicate in Hindi or Punjabi when I go to India.
For now, my proficiency level is beginner. I have a basic knowledge as I took a beginner's level course in Hindi in January 2004 through an Ottawa school board.
I would like to put more emphasis on conversation rather than grammar.
I am prepared to dedicate at least 3 hours per week with a tutor and spend at least the same amount of time studying and practicing between lessons.
My goal is to find a tutor that can help me learn well enough to be able to easily converse either in Hindi or Punjabi just as I do in French, English and Spanish.
