i want to learn chinese for career advancement and to have a second language. I am currently looking for once a week, sometime in the evenings on thursdays in vancouver. What I would hope from my tutor is to provide me with a one hour lesson, followed by home work that i could work on that week. In the fall of 2010, i would like to bump up the lessons to 3 times a week, as i will be living full time in vancouver.

I'm taking a trip to Ukraine to meet my father and siblings. It was my, let's say first-and-a-h alf language as I grew up speaking both Ukrainian and English. However, for some reason at the age of eight I decided to rebel and speak only English. In retrospect- bad move.
Anyw ay, I've lost most of it. My vocabulary is probably less than 100 words at this point. I think my accent is probably still decent- but I'd like to be able to have at least a rudimentary understanding of it because I'm unsure of how long I'll be staying. And, you know, it'd be kind of nice to talk to my family. Or whatever. No big deal.

I used to live in Japan, and I studied in Italy for a semester and took basic Italian. I want to maintain both languages while here in Toronto. I want to take a couple lessons a month, and I would like a little bit of homework between each lesson. I hope a relaxed, interesting and casual language teacher can help me out.
