I am at the beginner level in Hindi. I've learned on my own the Devanagari script and I can understand and speak a bit.
Learning Hindi is now one of my priorities. I've came a long way but I believe that I now need a one on one tutor to bring me to the next level.
I would be interested in having once or twice a week sessions via video conference or voice chat.

My father was half Ukrainian, half Polish, my mother is French-Canadi an, hence the native language. I have always wanted to learn, for my personal development and hopefully travelling to Ukraine and Poland one day and finally 10 years ago i started private lessons with a person with whom i had been put in contact with through the Ukrainian Credit Union in Ottawa. Unfortunately , at one point he was too busy with his job and he had to put a stop to our lessons. Since then, i have taken several group courses, and i am presently taking courses, but i do not see any progress because we do very little conversation, either with the teacher or amongst ourselves. As far as my proficiency is concerned, i feel i am more than a beginner, i can read, no problem, in fact up until last Christmas, i was singing in a Ukrainian choir here in Ottawa, although i did not get all of what i was singing. I am quite familiar with the grammar and the verbs, although i have problems with the cases, don't we all!! I need improvement in conversation, there is no better way to improve but to speak the language. I remember those private lessons, the teacher used the flash card system and it was very effective, i still remember what i learned from those lessons despite all those years. I am presently taking private lesson in Spanish and it is going very well, being able to speak it in every lesson. If possible, i would be able to dedicate one hour a week per lesson, plus the time at home for assignments. As for the qualities i am looking for in a teacher, well of course patience with an aspiring learner would be great, plus also dedication.

I've been studying Japanese for a little over 4 years now. I also lived in Japan for one year and studied at a language school there, however I still think I need lots of improvement and practice.
I'd like to be able to watch some Japanese TV Drama without subtitles, and to be honest would love to be able to pass the 1 kyuu level of the JLPT someday.
I 'm now back in Canada, and although my girlfriend is Japanese and lives with me, we speak English a lot when we're together so my Japanese level is sort of staying the same or maybe even getting rusty.
I'd consider my level intermediate or for conversation ability and beginner in terms of writing / reading ability.
