I want to learn basic mandarin because I am moving to Beijing in the fall to teach English as a second language.
During the summer, I would like to meet weekly in either private or a small group - depending on the price of lessons. I have no knowledge of the mandarin language; I am a beginner in the truest meaning of the word.
I would like to have a conversationa l base by the time I leave for China - just enough so as to make the transition abroad that much smoother.
I am looking for a friendly teacher who isn't afraid to demand improvement and practice on my behalf. I currently live with a Chinese girl (my girlfriend in fact), so I should be able to practice what I learn at home.
I'm willing to dedicate half an hour a day practicing the language, and up to one and a half hours at a time for the lesson.

Hi,
I would like to learn Russian as I will be planning a trip to either Ukraine or Russia in the near future. Up until now I have been doing some self study with books and an audio CD however I need to expand on my very basic knowledge.
As for lessons I would like to have about 2-3 lessons per week and perhaps some self study lessons as well.
What I am looking for in a teacher is someone who is familiar with the native Russian or Ukrainian culture if possible.
