I want to learn American Sign Language (ASL) as a way to communicate with deaf/hard of hearing patients in my work (I work in health care). I have some understanding of the basics, but need somebody to practice with to improve language reception. I need to improve vocabulary, language reception, and fingerspellin g speed. Hello,
I am a librarian who is looking to learn ASL in order to communicate with Deaf patrons. I've been teaching myself through websites and I find the language very beautiful, but I need someone to practice with to get any better.
My proficiency level is pretty low - at this point I probably have no real grasp of the grammar, I'm just signing nouns and verbs to get my point across, and I'm finding it impossible to follow the conversation of a native/fluent signer.
I don't have a lot of free time right now, but if there is a sign language tutor out there who has a schedule that works with mine, I would like to practice signing with another person for longer than it takes to renew a library card!

Hello, I have always been in love with ASL. It is a beautiful and intriguing language I have always wanted to learn. I have dictionaries and flash cards and websites, but I am looking for someone who can teach me the grammatical rules and conversationa l sign language, possibly with a friend. I am extremely beginner, i know the bare basics. I am looking to spend quite a bit of time on it, because I really want to learn. I am looking for a teacher that is patient and would be willing to introduce me into the language to see if I want to take the language further into my life.
