I have been learning french for six years, at night classes once a week, and attend the French Circle in my area twice a month.
My understanding of the reading and writing part is intermediate standard, but it's my conversation that suffers.
I spend around 1hour everyday looking and listening to French. Having an iPad helps as I keep up to date with TV programmes and listen to RTL daily in my car.
I have recently got my passport updated to enable me to travel to France. At last! This is my first time abroad in thirty years!
I have been looking to do immersion classes , preferably on a one to one basis and have noticed there are many about, but in areas further south like Loire Valley and Burgundy.
My reason for choosing Caen is because the area where I live has recently started Flybe flights to France, namely Caen and Renne. This is so much easier for me and only one and a quarter hour flight.
I am visiting Caen in September for a four day break and to get acclimatised to travelling abroad again before I decide on a weeks immersion if it was possible.
I have always loved the French style and how they are so passionate about their language and country and the scenery is beautiful. I've stayed in several french towns before but a long time ago.
If you know of any teacher that would be interested in immersion please advise.
